Klosterneuburg Abbey
Klosterneuburg Abbey
Klosterneuburg Abbey may have a nearly 900-year history, but its attraction for interested visitors today could hardly be more contemporary. A visit to the abbey begins in the Sala terrena, the unfinished garden hall with the mighty Atlases created by Lorenzo Mattielli. Klosterneuburg Abbey reveals its wealth of captivating facets on a number of topic-based tours. The Sacred Tour combines the high points of sacred art with historical aspects, and on the Hapsburg Tour you can stroll through the imperial apartments belonging to Charles VI, through the Marble Hall, to the Austrian archducal hat. The abbey’s art collection ranging from the Babenberger family tree to the modern art gallery are presented on the Museum Tour, and the Wine Cellar Tour offers insights into the storied past and exquisite present of the oldest vineyard in Austria. The precious treasures of the abbey are housed in a historic setting in the abbey’s treasure chamber.
