Marchegg Castle – myth of Ottokar and Adebar
The stork colony at Marchegg Castle offers a rich natural experience: one of the largest stork colonies in Europe has been making its way to Marchegg every spring and summer for more than a hundred years. Around fifty pairs nest and breed in the oak trees at Marchegg Castle year after year. The Stork House at Marchegg serves as the information centre for nature tourism in the March-Auen region. Tours are held every Saturday, Sunday and holidays at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the end of March to the end of October. Marchegg Castle was closed in 2017 due to building work.
