Kepler Salon

The former residence of Johannes Kepler is a place where people come together to engage in scientific discussions which include the residents of Linz as well as visitors to the city. Astronomer and mathematician Johannes Kepler lived in Linz from 1612 to 1627. Together with Galileo and Newton, Kepler is one of the most important founders and proponents of the natural sciences; he also served as the patron and namesake of the Kepler Salon. The Keplerhaus, as it is known, is located at Rathausgasse 5. Together with his family, Kepler, who had lived in Linz since 1612, made his home here in a building belonging to a citizen named Altenstraßer from 1622 until his departure in 1626. He completed his most important work, the ‘Rudolphine Tables’ here.

The Kepler Salon, a place where people can meet and exchange information, is located in the Keplerhaus today. The salon makes research and the transfer of knowledge accessible and comprehensible through a dialogue with experts. Im Keplerhaus befindet sich heute der Kepler Salon ein Ort der Begegnungen und Information. Hier wird Wissensvermittlung und Forschung im Dialog mit ExpertInnen zugänglich und verständlich gemacht.
