The grapes love the gentle influence of the Danube. That is why the Danube regions from Regensburg to Budapest are also rich in wine-growing areas. Even the Romans knew how to appreciate wine. Vinum laetificat cor hominis! – Wine gladdens a humans heart! Wine was an integral part of everyday life for the Romans. The knowledge of how to prepare wine and the different grape varieties themselves were spread by the Romans throughout history along the Limes and throughout Europe. In spring, the winegrowers open their doors to their wine cellars and invite visitors to taste the young wines. A culinary journey to the Danube regions is worthwhile.

German Danube
Whenever summer comes to an end, Stadtamhof looks forward to closing the event year with the wonderful wine festival. From 23-27 September 2020, there will be exquisite wines to taste, culinary delicacies for refreshment and a music programme alongside.
Danube region Upper Austria
In 2020 Vinaria, Austria’s leading wine magazine, will once again bring the best wines and vintners as well as fine foods to the Design Center Linz with “WEIN & GENUSS Linz” on 14 and 15 February 2020.
The Wine & Art event is the highlight for wine lovers in Linz. From 3 to 5 September 2020, over 70 winegrowers will present their fine wines in the historic centre of the city.
At the Schärdinger Wine Spring on 17 April 2020, everything revolves around wine. There will be 12 locations, 12 winegrowers and 70 wines.
In the midst of the idyllic area at the treetop path in Kopfing, renowned vintners will form a rustic Heuriger village on 21 July 2020 and present their best vintages.
Danube region Lower Austria
Delicious days await visitors from 19 March to 2 April in the Wachau. The thirteenth edition of the successful wachau GOURMETfestival will be a culinary milestone.
As part of the wachau GOURMETfestival, around 75 top vintners will be offering their wines for tasting at the Wine & Enjoyment Krems on 27 & 28 March in the Dominican Church.
Wine Spring Kremstal, Kamptal und Traisental
At the Wine Spring Kamptal-Kremstal-Traisental on 25 & 26 April you can taste the wines of a total of 245 vintners with just one ticket.
Young wine tasting in Göttlesbrunn
On 18 & 19 April, the winegrowers of Göttlesbrunn in the Carnuntum winegrowing region open their cellar doors and invite you to taste their young wines.
As part of the Wachau Wine Spring on 2 & 3 May 2020, over 100 Vinea Wachau vintners invite you to taste the 2019 vintage.
On 2 & 3 May 2020, the 26th Tour de Vin will take place, where all 36 traditional wineries invite you to taste the new vintage and enjoy tempting side events.

Hungary
It is the festival of the best Hungarian restaurants, wineries, chefs and confectioners, brewers and all lovers of gastronomy. The region’s biggest gastronomy festival takes place from 21-24 May 2020, bringing the country’s best to a huge outdoor tasting venue.
